First, I believe that in order to accomplish something, you must take responsibility, do it yourself, and not rely on others to carry you through life. If everyone laid back, allowing others to do all the work for them, obviously nothing would get done. It is also important that the satisfaction someone feels after accomplishing something by his or herself, is an incredible motivation for that person to strive towards future goals. Along this idea, I believe that people's outcome of life, where they end up, is the direct result of how they use their gifts, resources, and knowledge to work hard and get themself where they want to be. Don't get me wrong, I am completely for working with others, asking for guidance, and using support from others when you need it. I just think there needs to be a balance, as you can't learn and grow if you don't challenge and solve problems for yourself.
Second, I believe optimism can go a long way. In general, I am an optimistic person. Although, I do tend to complain about things that I may be annoyed or stressed about. In the end, I believe everything will work out, and so far in my life, everything has. I am very fortunate for the life I live, and realize the things I complain about are miniscule compared to the struggles of others around the world. I find that if I am not feeling good about something, or am worried, if I tell myself it will work out and stop focusing on the bad, I am able to keep a clear mind, to get through the problem. Negative thoughts cloud our judgement, especially when we are angry; staying optimistic allows us to make rational decisions.
Third, I believe that faith allows me to live life for a reason. I am not preaching at anyone or saying this is necessary in every person's life, but I find that in my personal life, having faith not only comforts me, but gives my life a purpose. If someone is in a tough situation, I think believing and trusting in a higher being allows them to be able to move on or solve the problem. This idea relates and ties my two earlier ideas together. Faith in a higher being, or God, allows us to have a meaning for all that work that we put in ourselves. Optimism can be found in trusting in faith, that things will work out.
These three ideas make up what I believe and shape me as a person. They allow me to see the world through an positive lens and strive towards my goals, personally, for a deeper meaning in life.
